The Oxford County 48

Here's what's going on over the next 48 hours in the region

STUFF TO DO

Today: Board Games for Bored People is a weekly drop-in where you can sit down, play some cards, board games or even a puzzle - and, perhaps more importantly, meet some people. It’s a pretty low-pressure way to get out of the house, especially if you enjoy games but don't necessarily have somebody at home to play with. It runs from 12:30 to 2:30 at the Tillsonburg Library, for adults 18 and over.

Today: If you need a job, or want to work - whether you're unemployed, just getting into the workforce, or are looking to transition into another role or industry, Community Employment Services is at Plattsville Library between 9am and Noon. They have a knowledgeable team with the resources to assist you in taking the first steps. Book an appointment by contacting Sam Ritchie at sritchie@cesoxford.ca.

Today: For the kids, there's an after-school hangout at the Tavistock Library. It starts with a back-to-school storytime, then kids can turn recycled materials into their own desk organizer - plus make some other back-to-school crafts. It’s aimed at kids six to 13, and runs from 4 to 5pm. There’s no registration required. Just be on time — they stop letting people in after 4:10.

Tomorrow: From 9:30–10:30 a.m. at the Tillsonburg Library, it's Shake, Rattle and Read: Songs, stories, movement and a craft to help build early literacy skills. Best suited to parents or caregivers with children ages 2–6.

Tomorrow:  Ages 13+ are invited to participate in a 30-minute workout combining HIIT training and muscle conditioning they call Blast Class, happening at the Tillsonburg Community Centre from 5:30–6:00 p.m.

Tomorrow:  At the Norwich Library from 1:00–2:00 p.m., The Fireside Book club is looking for new members, with teens and adults welcome. September’s book is Tell Me Everything by Elizabeth Strout. Copies are available at the library.
