A sweet summer tradition is helping support the children and families who rely on specialized care at Children's Hospital in London.
A favourite summer treat will help support children's health next week.
Miracle Treat Day returns to Dairy Queen on Thursday, August 13, with the Tillsonburg Dairy Queen at 51 Simcoe Street once again taking part in the annual fundraiser. On that day, 100 per cent of the net proceeds from every Blizzard Treat sold will support children's health care through the Children's Miracle Network.
For Becky Macalaria, Director of Corporate Partnerships with the Children's Health Foundation in London, Dairy Queen's support is part of a long relationship.
She says supporting children's health isn't simply part of her job - she's been showing up for years.
That relationship has continued to make a difference for children's health care in the region. Macalaria says Dairy Queen has been a longtime community partner, helping raise money for important equipment and care.
The Children's Health Foundation supports Children's Hospital in London, which serves families from a large area of Southwestern and Northern Ontario. That includes approximately 60,000 children who receive care at the hospital each year, including children and families in Oxford County.
Since Miracle Treat Day began in Canada, Dairy Queen has raised nearly $58 million for children's hospitals.
For local residents, supporting the campaign is as simple as stopping by the Tillsonburg Dairy Queen at 51 Simcoe Street on August 13 and ordering a Blizzard.
It's a small purchase that can help provide the equipment, care and support children and their families need when they need it most.
