What’s Good in Oxford? Woodstock Hockey Day Celebrates the Love of the Game

A free family event celebrates Woodstock’s hockey community

There’ll be more than hockey to see at the Reeves Community Complex this Saturday. Families can take part in a scavenger hunt, stop by a penalty-box photo booth, meet balloon artists and try henna tattoos. There’ll also be yard games and a chance for kids to get a closer look at a Woodstock Fire Department vehicle.

It’s all part of Woodstock Hockey Day, an annual gathering that brings the local hockey community together for a day of activities on and off the ice.

Tarnya Petch is a Woodstock Hockey Day committee member.

The event also has plenty for people who want to see hockey skills in action. Cro’s Sports Zone, Mallozzi Hockey Academy and Prospects Paradise are among the groups taking part in hockey presentations and demonstrations. Visitors can also meet Woodstock Navy Vets players for photos and autographs.

Petch says it's about bringing the entire hockey community together.

There’s a fundraising side to the day, too, with a dunk tank supporting local hockey teams. A video game trailer will be on site, and Oxford Source for Sports is bringing a pop-up merchandise stand.

Petch says there should be something for everybody.

Woodstock Hockey Day takes place Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Reeves Community Complex.
Admission is free, although some activities cost extra. It’s an opportunity for families to get out together, discover more of Woodstock’s hockey community and enjoy a day built around the sport.
