Major celebration coming for Oxford County Library
Oxford County Library is celebrating 60 years of service.
Digital Literacy and Local History Technician at the Tillsonburg branch Matthew Griffis says when formed in 1965, it was only the second full county-wide library system in Ontario.
Today the county system serves the areas of Brownsville, Burgessville, Embro, Harrington, Ingersoll, Innerkip, Mount Elgin, Norwich, Otterville, Plattsville, Princeton, Tavistock, Thamesford and Tillsonburg.
Griffis says services offered by the County Library are comparable to municipal libraries.
Griffis notes the Library has also launched a 60th Anniversary Memorial Wall project which you can participate in by sharing a memory.
There's also a video on the Library's YouTube Channel that recognizes the Library's past and present and imagines the future.
A reception to commemorate six decades of Oxford County Library service takes place Saturday, September 20th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Library's Ingersoll branch located at 130 Oxford Street.
This event will feature stories, displays and exhibits showcasing the history of county library services in Oxford.
