What's Good in Tillsonburg? A new long-term care home means more options for local health care

The arrival of peopleCare Tillsonburg is creating new local options for long-term care—and helping Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital make better use of its beds.

There's some good news for health care in Tillsonburg, with a new long-term care home opening in the community.

peopleCare Tillsonburg is providing new local capacity for people who need long-term care - and that's having an impact beyond the home itself. Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital opened a temporary 12-bed Transitional Care Unit in April of last year for patients waiting to move into long-term care, retirement homes, or back home with community support. That unit did exactly what it was designed to do. And now, with the new long-term care home opening, those temporary beds can be phased out.

Nadia Facca is CEO and President of Rural Roads Health Services, which includes both Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital and Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll. She explained what's changing, with the transitional care unit now winding down:
