The North Bay Animal Rescue & Relief Transport is bringing animals in need from North Bay and across Northern Ontario to Tillsonburg
Some special animals are coming to Tillsonburg... in search of their forever homes. North Bay Animal Rescue & Relief is bringing them here, and they range in age, size, breed and personality. They will be available for adoption at Pet Valu’s Tillsonburg store this Saturday and Sunday, July 25th and 26th. Liam Cullin is Executive Director at the North Bay and District Humane Society, and says one of their primary goals is to ensure every healthy, adoptable animal has an opportunity to find a loving home as quickly as possible. Demand varies significantly from one region to another, and by joining forces with Pet Valu stores, they're able to connect animals with families in communities where there is often a greater demand for adoption.
Mike Grubb and his wife, Allison, are the Franchisees and Operators at Pet Valu in Tillsonburg. Mike not only believes in pet adoption, but he and his wife are adopters as well, and it's something that is very close to his heart:
The adoptable pets that will be available at Pet Valu’s Tillsonburg adoption event - including ten or more dogs, and eight to ten cats - are healthy, vaccinated, spayed or neutered (if age-appropriate), well-rested and prepared for the journey to minimize stress.

The Animal Rescue & Relief Transport is a customized 24-foot trailer and truck, outfitted with comfortable, modern cages and air conditioning, and can carry up to 45 medium-to-large dogs or 75 cats. Mike says it was made possible through two Companions for Change™ sponsorship donations from Pet Valu, the first in 2018 of 100,000 dollars for the truck, and a second in 2024 of $31,000, for maintenance:
Mike Grubb is encouraging any and all pet lovers in Tillsonburg and surrounding region who are considering a new, furry addition to their family to attend the event, meet the pets, and speak to staff to see if they're the right fit. There will be a few more extras available as well:
Grubb says that when a pet finds a loving home, its life is changed - and it also creates much needed space in the Humane Society’s shelter, so they can continue to accept, and care for, animals in need from North Bay and across Northern Ontario.
The adoption event will be held at Pet Valu in Tillsonburg at 17-400 Simcoe Street in the Norfolk Mall, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday July 25, and between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on July 26.
