Cameron Reid embraced the opportunity to thank the community that supported him throughout his hockey journey.
Hockey fans packed the East Elgin Community Complex on Friday to welcome home one of Aylmer's own.
Fresh off captaining the Kitchener Rangers to the 2026 Memorial Cup championship, Cameron Reid returned to his hometown with junior hockey's most coveted trophy, giving fans the chance to meet him, take photos and celebrate a season he'll never forget.
For Reid, the event was about more than showing off the Memorial Cup. It was an opportunity to thank the community that supported him throughout his hockey journey:
The celebration also drew Kitchener Rangers supporters from outside the area, something Reid said made the day even more special.
The homecoming celebration capped off a remarkable 2025-26 for the Aylmer native, which included being selected 21st overall in the 2025 NHL Draft by the Nashville Predators, and representing Canada at the World Junior Championship in Minnesota. But, as Reid shared, one accomplishment stands above the rest:
While celebrating the past season, Reid also looked ahead to the next chapter of his career. He confirmed he will suit up for the University of Michigan this fall, as he continues his development at the NCAA level.
Before wrapping up the afternoon, Reid thanked everyone who came out, saying he was proud to see the community rally around the celebration and grateful for the support he's received throughout his career.
