Rachel Azzopardi says she was inspired to apply by watching classic game shows growing up.
A local family is set to appear on Family Feud Canada after one sibling decided to take a chance and apply—without telling the rest of the family. Rachel Azzopardi submitted an application and audition video, hoping her family might be chosen from thousands of entries.
As one of seven siblings, Azzopardi then held informal auditions at home to narrow down the group. In the end, she selected her oldest siblings to join her, along with their mom.
She says she was inspired to apply after growing up watching classic game shows in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The family, was selected and travelled to Toronto for a full-day rehearsal in August, followed weeks later by the actual taping. Long days, early mornings, and plenty of waiting were all part of the experience, but the excitement quickly took over once they stepped on stage.
Azzopardi told us about meeting host Jerry Dee.
She describes the behind-the-scenes process as eye-opening.
They knew nerves were going to be an issue for some, so they came up with a team strategy.
The episode airs February 12 at 7:30 p.m., and while results remain under wraps, Azzopardi says the experience was unforgettable.
