Their events throughout the month of September aim to help the Children's Health Foundation
Moffat & Powell RONA in Tillsonburg is celebrating its 70th anniversary by giving back to the community — with a month-long fundraising campaign for the Children’s Health Foundation. The foundation supports children and families throughout Southwestern Ontario, and Tillsonburg Moffatt and Powell store manager Gary Tutt says the choice of charity has a very personal connection for some of the people who work for RONA.
Tutt says that personal connection is part of a much larger reason the company chose the foundation for this year's anniversary fundraising.
There will be several ways for people to help throughout September, beginning Thursday with a hot dog and hamburger barbecue over the lunch hour. Breakfast sandwiches follow September 8th, and an in-store silent auction runs from September 9th through the 25th. There's also a bake sale September 14th. Then, on September 24th, RONA will host its big chili and grilled cheese lunch, along with a live broadcast from 101.3 Giant FM.
Tutt says the contributions from the community always keep him thankful:
People can support the campaign by attending the September events, taking part in the silent auction, or making a direct donation to the Children's Health Foundation. For a local business marking 70 years, it's a pretty fitting way to celebrate — by turning the anniversary into something that can help families across the region.
