The initiative will highlight local makers, museums, galleries, and hands-on experiences across Oxford County.
Tourism Oxford is introducing a new way to explore the region, inviting visitors and residents to discover the county’s rich handcrafted arts scene through a self-guided experience called Handcrafted Routes, planned to launch in September 2026.
The initiative will highlight local makers, museums, galleries, and hands-on experiences across Oxford County. Visitors will be encouraged to travel between locations to learn, create, and purchase unique handmade items.
Tourism Manager Meredith Maywood says the concept is designed to celebrate creativity while supporting local artisans.
Unlike a one-time event, the program allows residents and visitors to explore at their own pace and choose stops that match their interests.
Oxford Tourism is currently consulting with local museums, arts-based businesses and cooperatives to gather input on how the program can best reflect the community.
The project is still in development, with Tourism Oxford issuing an open call for local makers to get involved and share their stories.
Local makers are encouraged to submit their information through an online form. To register your interest, visit www.oxfordcounty.ca/tourism. More details will be shared on Tourism Oxford’s website as the program develops.
