This week in Tillsonburg a flag raising took place at the Broadway Parkette to commemorate June being Pride month.
Many from the community including the Mayor and municipal staff joined members of the Pride community for the ceremony. Mayor Deb Gilvesy addressed the crowd prior to the flag raising and made sure we knew that this community is inclusive.

When asked about her thoughts on society and how there is negativity out there no matter what the topic of discussion, she had a great message.

Tera Russell, President of Oxford County Pride raised the flag Monday and says the event itself is pretty important.
Russell was also asked about how some of society looks at Pride in a negative manner.
Coming up Wednesday June 3rd, there will be a Pride Drag Bingo at Upper Thames Brewery in Woodstock and the Family Day Pride event will happen June 13th at Museum Square also in Woodstock. More events are being scheduled and you can find them at Oxfordpride.ca and on the group's Facebook page.
