Co-chair Colin Hock says prostate cancer should be on every man’s health radar.
The Grand River Ride for Dad is gearing up for another year, bringing together motorcycle enthusiasts from across Southern Ontario to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer research.
Now entering its 26th year nationally, and 22nd year locally, the event has grown into a major fundraiser across Canada. For co-chair Colin Hock it's personal.
Hock says prostate cancer should be on every man’s health radar.
He adds the impact of Ride for Dad has been significant, with millions raised to support research and local health initiatives.
Funds support local research efforts through partnerships with healthcare organizations.
Riders can register as individuals or as part of a team for the event, which takes place June 6 starting at 8:30 a.m. at Sportsworld, Moose Winooski’s in Kitchener. Participants will then head out on a 150 to 180 kilometre route with stops in Cambridge, Guelph, Stratford, and Ayr. The ride ends with a community barbecue and prizes for top fundraisers at the Waterloo Regional Police Association on Rife Road.
Hock says an event of this size relies heavily on volunteers, adding they are always looking for more help.
Hock says the event is about more than just motorcycles. “It’s about getting out having fun and raising money for a great cause.”
