What's Good in Tillsonburg? Stich Supper Club feeds hundreds—and builds community

Run out of Trinity United Church, welcomes anyone in the community every Thursday for a free, hearty dinner.

A grassroots program in Ingersoll is doing more than serving meals—it’s creating connection, support, and a sense of belonging.

The Stich Supper Club, located at Trinity United Church, welcomes anyone in the community every Thursday for a free, hearty dinner, and President Paula D’Orazio says the goal goes beyond a single meal.

Vice President Bryan Smith added “We serve people a meal on Thursday, convinced that they probably want to eat on Friday and Saturday too, which is why we do the distribution.”

What started as a small effort to help a few struggling families has grown into a weekly gathering that now serves close to 250 people.

All of the food served and distributed through the Stich Supper Club is donated by a wide network of local businesses and organizations. D’Orazio says the program relies heavily on community generosity, adding that Smith has become a skilled “scrounger,” finding great deals and securing donations.

D’Orazio says the impact isn’t just about food—it’s also about social connection and a sense of belonging to a community.

Smith says experts have warned of a growing loneliness epidemic, and the Supper Club is helping to address it.

Each week, volunteers and donors from across Oxford County help make the program possible, contributing food, time, and resources. D’Orazio and Smith say the Supper Club relies on the community not just for food, but also for monetary donations and the time and energy of volunteers.

Organizers say anyone is welcome to attend or volunteer, adding the program continues to grow thanks to strong community support.
