The people, connections and community behind the big night
The trophies have been handed out, the speeches are over, and the 50th anniversary Tillsonburg District Chamber of Commerce Awards of Excellence are now in the books. But what stays with people after a night like that?
Samantha Hamilton, a sales representative with Royal LePage R.E. Wood Realty on Brock Street in Tillsonburg, and coordinator with Helping Hands Food Bank, was attending the awards for the third time. She says she knew about half the people in the room - while the other half gave her an opportunity to meet people she didn't already know.
And, when it comes down to what makes the evening special, Hamilton says it's about community.
Scot Bolton, a Certified Financial Planner with Good Redden Klosler Wealth Management and Vice President of the Tillsonburg District Chamber of Commerce, says the awards are one of his favourite nights of the year.
He says the evening reflects something bigger than the Chamber itself — the way people and organizations in Tillsonburg support their community.
