A new long-term care home under construction in Tillsonburg is moving closer to welcoming its first residents later this year.

Mayor Deb Gilvesy and Development Commissioner Cephas Panschow recently toured peopleCare’s new 160-bed long-term care home at 25 Maple Lane, built on the site of the former Maple Lane Public School.

The Town of Tillsonburg has been advocating for additional long-term care beds since 2019, working with peopleCare to secure a provincial license for the project. Construction began in 2025, with the municipality supporting the development through site acquisition and planning.

Town officials say the modern facility will help meet the growing demand for long-term care in the community. The first residents are expected to move in this August if construction continues on schedule.

The project is also expected to bring significant economic benefits. peopleCare is currently hiring and plans to build a team of up to 250 staff, including full-time, part-time and casual positions.

Once fully staffed, the new home will rank among Tillsonburg’s 10 largest employers, helping strengthen the local economy and support nearby businesses.
