Offering a wide variety of fun events for friends, couples, and families.
Transitions Equine Assisted Learning, has been galloping ahead in Oxford County’s tourism and wellness scene — and now, they’ve earned official recognition for it. The farm recently took home the Best New Product of the Year award at the Tourism Oxford Awards for its popular women’s experience, the Cowgirl Kickback.
Owner Alisha Wilson says Transitions is more than just a farm — it offers a wide variety of fun events for friends, couples, and families, but that is just part of what they do.
Wilson says that connection is a big part of what they do, and horses provide immediate, non-judgmental feedback — making them wonderful partners for the various programs they offer.
The award winning Cowgirl Kickback, is a ladies’ night where small groups bond with horses through obstacle-based teamwork. Wilson explains, “It’s about connection, laughter, and a little chaos.”
The event ends with charcuterie boxes, refreshments, and a campfire under Oxford’s sunset skies.
Wilson, who launched Transitions in 2021 during Ontario’s last COVID-19 lockdown, says it’s humbling to be recognized so early in their journey.
Transitions also features a lounge and gift shop highlighting local artisans, inviting visitors to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with nature. Wilson encourages everyone to “come out and experience it at least once — you won’t want to leave.”
Transitions Equine Assisted Learning is located just off Maplewood Side Road near Tavistock.
