What's Good in Tillsonburg? Woodstock unveils commemorative crosswalk to honour local veterans

The crosswalk serves as a visual reminder of the bravery and sacrifice of Canada’s service members.

The City of Woodstock has unveiled a new commemorative crosswalk at the cenotaph in Victoria Park, honouring local veterans ahead of Remembrance Day.

Located at Graham and Buller Streets, the crosswalk features red and white stripes, along with a soldier’s silhouette and the phrase “Lest We Forget.”

Public Works Director Jeff Molenhuis said the design was developed in consultation with Royal Canadian Legion Branch #55 to ensure it is both functional and respectful. The installation coincides with the 100th anniversary of Woodstock’s cenotaph, which pays tribute to residents who served in the First and Second World Wars, the Korean War, and the war in Afghanistan.

The crosswalk serves as a visual reminder of the bravery and sacrifice of Canada’s service members.

The City and the Legion will also display banners honouring more than 60 local veterans downtown this month. Woodstock’s Remembrance Day Ceremony takes place Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the cenotaph.
