Boil water advisory issued in Tavistock

A boil water advisory is in effect for residents connected to the municipal water supply on William Street south of Wettlaufer Street in Tavistock following a water main break and pressure loss. Southwestern Public Health says residents should boil water for at least one minute before drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, washing raw foods, or making ice until the advisory is lifted.

A boil water advisory has been issued for part of Tavistock following a water main break that caused a loss of pressure in the municipal water system.

Southwestern Public Health says the advisory affects residents connected to the municipal water supply on William Street south of Wettlaufer Street.

As a precaution, residents are being told to boil tap water for at least one minute before drinking it, brushing teeth, washing raw foods, preparing infant formula or juice, or making ice.

Public health officials say the advisory was issued because pressure loss during a water main break can increase the risk of contamination entering the system.

Residents in the affected area have been notified and will receive another notice once the advisory is lifted and normal water use can resume.
