The fundraiser had raised more than half the funds needed for the new dog park, which is set to be located at the back of the baseball diamond at Matheson Park. Interested locals can attend the BBQ fundraiser on June 6th to help support the initiative.
A committee working to bring a dog park to Embro is closing in on its fundraising goal, with community support helping the project gain momentum.
The group is aiming to raise $28,000 to construct the park and has already secured $17,000 toward that target.
The idea for the dog park emerged after local residents conducted a survey to determine the number of dogs in the village. Organizers contacted one resident on every street and had volunteers go door-to-door gathering information. The survey found 220 dogs living in 385 households, demonstrating strong demand for a dedicated space for dogs and their owners.
Committee organizer Diane Normand confirmed the project now has a location at the back of the baseball diamond at Matheson Park.
As fundraising efforts continue, residents will have an opportunity to support the project at a community fundraiser scheduled for June 6th. The event will be held at Embro Family Pharmacy, located at 104 Commissioner St., in partnership with the Thamesford Lions.
Running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the family-friendly event will feature hamburgers, hot dogs and a children's colouring contest.
he committee hopes continued community support will help it reach the remaining $11,000 needed to make the dog park a reality.
