After reviewing months of parking data, council voted to amend the parking rules on Saturday in downtown Tillsonburg. Residents and visitors will now be able to park in designated downtown areas for three hours instead of two, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Downtown visitors in Tillsonburg will now have a little extra time to shop, grab lunch or run errands on Saturdays.
Tillsonburg council has approved changes to the downtown parking rules, extending the Saturday parking limit from two hours to three hours between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The change comes after council asked staff to look into whether the Saturday time limits should be removed entirely. Instead, staff recommended adding an extra hour after reviewing parking patterns and enforcement data.
According to the report, bylaw officers monitored downtown parking throughout November and found there were consistently plenty of open parking spaces available, both on the street and in municipal lots.
The town also found that parking violations on Saturdays were relatively low. Between August 2024 and November 2025, an average of fewer than four tickets per Saturday were issued in the downtown core.
Staff said the findings showed there were no major parking shortages downtown, and that moving to a three-hour limit would give visitors more flexibility while still keeping parking spots turning over throughout the day.
The updated parking rules will apply to designated downtown areas on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
