Fanshawe College’s Simcoe campus drew strong attendance at its recent Open House, giving prospective students a hands-on look at programs and campus life. Interactive activities—from early childhood crafts to medical simulations and outdoor demonstrations—helped showcase the college’s experiential learning approach.
Fanshawe College is celebrating a successful Open House at its Simcoe campus this past weekend, with strong attendance and positive feedback from visitors and staff alike.
The event gave prospective students and their families a chance to explore the campus and experience the hands-on learning that Fanshawe programs are known for.
Faculty and current students were on hand throughout the day, showcasing projects, answering questions, and offering insight into daily life as a student.
Several programs featured interactive activities designed to give guests a real feel for the learning environment.
The Early Childhood Education program invited visitors to create bubble makers, a simple but engaging activity that reflects the type of hands-on experiences students incorporate into placements and workshop days.
Meanwhile, the Practical Nursing and Personal Support Worker programs offered a more clinical perspective. Guests were able to take part in a simulated medical exercise, identifying and treating a mock wound, while others explored the college’s use of virtual reality technology through a hospital simulator.
Outside, the Adventure Expeditions and Interpretive Leadership program highlighted its field-based approach to learning, setting up demonstrations that reflected the outdoor and experiential nature of the program.
Organizers say the campus was buzzing throughout the event, with hallways filled with visitors engaging directly with students and their works.
