If you’ve been keeping an eye on the local housing market, September brought more sales, plenty of choice, and some continued relief on prices.
The Woodstock Ingersoll Tillsonburg & Area Association of REALTORS® says 154 homes changed hands during the month, up just over four per cent from September 2025.
That was the strongest September for sales in five years and also marked an improvement from August.
Through the first nine months of 2026, 1,305 homes have sold, nearly three per cent more than during the same period last year.
WITAAR President Derrek de Jonge says new listings also increased from August, while the number of homes available remained above historical levels.
There were 747 active residential listings at the end of September, the highest inventory for the month in more than a decade.
For buyers, that means more homes to compare and a market that continues to offer some negotiating room, rather than the intense competition seen when inventory is tight.
Prices, meanwhile, continued to cool.
The benchmark home price fell for a fourth consecutive month, reaching $566,700. That's down just over five per cent compared to September 2025.
The average sale price was higher at $636,664, but was virtually unchanged from a year ago.
Single-family homes had a benchmark price of $582,600, while townhouses and row homes came in at $377,700.
Despite the larger inventory, September sales totaled $98 million, the highest dollar volume for the month in five years.
