Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll and Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, under Rural Roads Health Services, have launched the Enviro C.A.R.E. Committee to reduce waste and improve sustainability. The initiative has introduced recycling programs, reduced single-use plastics, and promoted greener practices across both hospital sites and the community.

Two Oxford County hospitals are marking one year of environmental action with the launch of a formal sustainability committee aimed at reducing waste and promoting greener practices.

Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll and Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, part of Rural Roads Health Services (RRHS), have introduced the Enviro C.A.R.E. (Collaboration Always Rewards Everyone) Committee to lead these efforts.

The committee brings together staff, volunteers, and board members to implement practical, low-cost initiatives. Over the past year, this has included expanding recycling programs, reducing single-use plastics, installing a water bottle refill station, and supporting community efforts such as Tillsonburg Clean and Green Week.

“Having our team members work together in this way shows our responsibility and our commitment to a safe and healthy environment,” said Nadia Facca, CEO and President of RRHS.

Hospital officials say the committee is helping build a culture of sustainability while delivering benefits to both the workplace and the wider community.
