The Oxford Road 29 bridge in Innerkip will remain fully closed until August, as per Oxford County. The project was originally planned to be finished by November of 2026.
Drivers travelling through the community of Innerkip will continue to experience a full bridge closure on Oxford Road 29 but the project has been moving forward at a faster pace and is expected to be completed in August of 2026, as per Oxford County.
The closure affects the section of Oxford Road 29 between 18th Line Road and Elisabeth Street, where bridge rehabilitation work is currently underway. During the full closure, the bridge remains inaccessible to all traffic.
Oxford County officials say once the bridge reopens, traffic flow will be restricted to a single eastbound lane only. Westbound drivers will continue to follow a posted detour route using Blandford Road, Oxford Road 8, 16th Line and Oxford Road 33.
The rehabilitation project began in early May. Officials note that construction timelines remain subject to change depending on weather conditions, contractor availability and ongoing site challenges.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow for additional travel time while the work continues.
Author's note: The bridge timeline has been accelerated and is expected to be finished by August of 2026, not November of 2026. Apologies for the misunderstanding on our part.
