The Oxford Road 29 bridge in Innerkip will remain fully closed until early July due to construction issues, with the project running through November 2026. After reopening, only one eastbound lane will be available while westbound traffic continues on a posted detour route.

Motorists travelling through the community of Innerkip will face a longer-than-expected disruption as the full bridge closure on Oxford Road 29 has been extended until early July due to unforeseen site conditions.

The closure affects the section of Oxford Road 29 between 18th Line Road and Elisabeth Street, where bridge rehabilitation work is currently underway. During the full closure, the bridge remains inaccessible to all traffic.

Oxford County officials say once the bridge reopens, traffic flow will be restricted to a single eastbound lane only. Westbound drivers will continue to follow a posted detour route using Blandford Road, Oxford Road 8, 16th Line and Oxford Road 33.

The rehabilitation project began in early May and is expected to continue through November 2026. Officials note that construction timelines remain subject to change depending on weather conditions, contractor availability and ongoing site challenges.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow for additional travel time while the work continues.
