National Drowning Prevention Week

National Drowning Prevention Week runs from July 19 to 25, serving as an important reminder that drowning is fast, silent, and often preventable.

As families head to beaches, pools, lakes, and cottages this summer, water safety should always come first. Simple precautions can make all the difference, including supervising children at all times, wearing a properly fitted lifejacket while boating or participating in water sports, avoiding alcohol around the water, and learning CPR.

Parents are encouraged to keep young children within arm's reach whenever they're near the water, while swimmers of all ages should know their limits and never swim alone.

Whether you're spending time at the pool, the lake, or enjoying a day on the boat, taking a few extra safety measures can help ensure everyone returns home safely.

National Drowning Prevention Week is a reminder that the best way to enjoy the water is to respect it.
