Teachers will be able to order supplies through funding, rather than paying out of pocket.
New funding is going to be available for elementary school homeroom teachers across Oxford County.
The province is introducing a new Classroom Supplies Fund to give elementary school homeroom teachers direct access to $750 each year for classroom materials.
Starting in September, teachers will use a provincial website to order supplies such as notebooks, writing tools, calculators, arts and crafts materials, and tissues, with delivery directly to their schools.
Premier Doug Ford said the fund ensures teachers won’t have to pay up front or wait for reimbursement. Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy emphasized the initiative is part of broader efforts to support student success and accountability in the province’s education system. Education Minister Paul Calandra added that the fund addresses the ongoing issue of teachers paying out of pocket for essential supplies. Input from educators and school boards will guide the selection of materials available to support both students and teachers.
The Classroom Supplies Fund is part of Ontario’s 2026 budget, which will be released on March 26th, and will outline additional measures to strengthen the province’s public education system and competitiveness.
