On Tuesday, July 21, at approximately 3:00 p.m., members of the Six Nations Police Service attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Sixth Line near Onondaga Road following a driving complaint.
The vehicle fled from the area, and was located on River Range Road, where it struck a police vehicle, and a Six Nations Police officer discharged their firearm. The vehicle then attempted to flee again, and collided with multiple police vehicles before entering a ditch. The driver was taken into custody by the Six Nations Police without further incident, and transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
At the request of the Six Nations Police Chief of Police, the OPP assumed official, primary responsibility for the investigation and, as a result, a 29-year-old of Six Nations of the Grand River has been charged, with a list of Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences.
Longboat remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on Friday, July 24th.
Investigators are asking residents and businesses with surveillance cameras in the area to review any footage captured around the time of the incident.
