Pickup truck driver remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries; Highway 59 has reopened
One person is dead and another remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 59 in East Zorra-Tavistock.
The crash happened Thursday, September 10, 2026, at approximately 5:10 a.m., when officers from the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, along with Oxford County Fire and Paramedic Services, responded to a collision involving a pickup truck and an SUV.
The lone occupant of the SUV, a 50-year-old man from London, was transported to hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The lone occupant of the pickup truck, a 34-year-old man from Courtland, remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Highway 59 between Cassel Sideroad and Maplewood Sideroad was closed for several hours while emergency crews responded to the collision and investigators examined the scene. The highway has since reopened.
