Members of the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to three separate situations.
Several impaired driving charges have been laid following a series of incidents across Oxford County over the past week.
Members of the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to three separate situations in Tillsonburg and along Highway 401 near Ingersoll, leading to multiple charges.
Police say the first incident happened March 6 at around 1:30 a.m. during a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Broadway in Tillsonburg. Officers reported that a driver entering the checkpoint showed signs of impairment and was later charged with dangerous operation and impaired driving offences.
Later that evening, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers on patrol observed a vehicle being driven dangerously on Vienna Road in Tillsonburg. Following an investigation, another driver was charged with dangerous operation and impaired driving.
The third incident occurred early the next morning. On March 7 at about 3:20 a.m., police responded to a two-vehicle collision in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Ingersoll. No injuries were reported, but one driver was charged with impaired driving and dangerous operation.
All three accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock at later dates.
Police continue to remind drivers that impaired driving remains a serious and preventable risk on local roads.
