Otterville bridge replacement begins May 11th

A full bridge replacement is beginning next week on Oxford Road 19 in Otterville, reducing the road to a single lane with alternating traffic through 2026. Church Street will be partially closed, with a detour in place via Maple Street and North Street West.

A major bridge replacement on Oxford Road 19 (Otterville Road) in Otterville is set to begin the week of May 11th and will affect traffic through most of 2026.

The work will involve tearing down and fully rebuilding the bridge between Church Street and Bullock Street, including the deck and supporting girders. During construction, traffic will be reduced to a single lane with alternating flow controlled by temporary traffic signals.

The project will be done in two stages. First, crews will work on the south side of the bridge while traffic uses the north side. Then they’ll switch to the north side once that portion is complete.

Church Street will also be partially closed at its south end to serve as a staging area. Access will be limited to local traffic, businesses, and emergency vehicles, with a detour in place using Maple Street and North Street West.

The project is expected to wrap up by December of 2026, though timelines may shift depending on weather and site conditions.
