Oxford County is inviting residents to help shape its new Official Plan, which will guide growth, housing, infrastructure, and land use over the next 20 to 30 years. Public input will be collected through four June workshops and an online survey open until August 31st, 2026.
Oxford County is inviting residents to help shape the region’s long-term growth strategy through a series of public workshops and an online survey as it begins work on a new Official Plan.
The plan will guide how communities across the county develop over the next 20 to 30 years, including decisions on housing, employment areas, infrastructure, environmental protection, and overall community design. County officials say the update comes as Oxford is projected to grow to more than 200,000 residents over the coming decades.
To gather public input, the County is hosting four in-person visioning workshops in June 2026:
June 16th, 1:00–3:00 p.m. at Innerkip Community Centre, 695566 17th Line
June 17th, 6:30–8:30 p.m. at Mount Elgin Community Centre, 333204 Plank Line
June 23rd, 1:30–3:30 p.m. at South Gate Centre (Altadore Hall), 191 Old Wellington Street South
June 25th, 6:30–8:30 p.m. at Embro Community Centre, 355644 35th Line
Residents are encouraged to register in advance and can also provide feedback through an online survey available until August 31st, 2026. Input can be submitted throughout the planning process.
All engagement materials, including workshop registration and the survey, are available through the County’s Official Plan engagement page: Oxford County Official Plan Engagement.
Paul Michiels, Director of Community Planning for Oxford County, said the process is intended to give residents a direct role in shaping the future of their communities, including how to balance growth with the protection of valued local features.
The Official Plan process will help determine where new housing and businesses are located, how infrastructure is expanded, and how farmland and natural areas are protected as the county grows.
