The Ontario government is investing nearly $10.9 million in Oxford to help paramedics respond faster and improve access to emergency care.
The province is increasing land ambulance funding in Oxford by 14 per cent, bringing its total investment to more than $10.7 million this year.
Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman said timely care can make a major difference during a medical emergency. He said the funding will help ensure the region has the paramedics, ambulances and resources needed to respond quickly.
Another $109,200 is being provided through the Dedicated Offload Nurses Program. The money supports nurses and other health professionals who help transfer ambulance patients into hospital emergency departments.
The goal is to reduce the amount of time paramedics spend waiting at hospitals so they can return to the road and respond to the next 9-1-1 call.
Ontario says ambulance offload times across the province have dropped about 68 per cent since their peak in October 2022.
