A London resident is expected to face a drug trafficking charge following an incident in St. Thomas that began with a reported stabbing.
A 20-year-old London resident is facing drug trafficking charges following an incident that began with a reported stabbing in St. Thomas.
According to the St. Thomas Police Service, officers responded to a 911 call from a business on Wellington Street after a person entered the store with visible injuries and claimed they had been stabbed.
Police later located the individual nearby, where they reportedly told officers the wounds were self-inflicted.
Officers said the person appeared disoriented and unsteady.
The individual was taken into custody under the Mental Health Act and transported to hospital for assessment.
During a search, officers say they located a large knife, two cell phones, a significant amount of cash and suspected cocaine.
Police say the individual will face a charge of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking upon release from hospital.
