The Town of Tillsonburg has named Scott Gooding its 2026 Citizen of the Year, recognizing decades of service in education, youth mentorship, and community volunteerism.

Gooding spent 36 years in education, including 34 at Glendale High School, where he taught a range of subjects and became deeply involved in student life. He coached soccer, hockey, and ringette for nearly three decades and supported numerous school leadership and advisory programs. His impact on school culture was honoured through the creation of the Scott Gooding Spirit Award.

In retirement, he has continued his community involvement, helping establish the Friends of Glendale Committee and a post-secondary alumni network connecting students with graduates. He also serves on local advisory committees focused on youth, recreation, and community recognition.

Gooding’s volunteer work extends beyond education, including long-time coaching in minor sports and participation in fundraising initiatives. He has raised nearly $50,000 through the Great Cycle Challenge for SickKids Hospital and has also supported the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

He will receive the award June 9th, 2026, at the Lion's Den in Tillsonburg.
