Tillsonburg council has approved the addition of 10 accessible parking spaces and new accessibility signage at the Dave Johnson Memorial Dog Park, Lake Lisgar Waterpark and the soccer park. The $3,500 project will be funded through the town’s 2026 parks operating budget.
Residents visiting several of Tillsonburg’s recreational facilities will soon have improved access after council approved the addition of ten new accessible parking spaces across three locations.
The approved changes include four new accessible spaces at the Dave Johnson Memorial Dog Park, two spaces north of the Lake Lisgar Waterpark, and two spaces near the soccer park clubhouse. In addition, two existing parking spaces at the soccer park will be redesignated as accessible.
The project will also include the installation of ten new accessibility signs.
According to a staff report presented to council, the improvements are expected to cost approximately $3,500. Funding will come from the town’s approved 2026 parks operating budget.
Town staff said the proposal received support from several municipal departments, including bylaw, building, recreation, culture, parks and planning.
The report also noted that no comments or concerns were raised by Tillsonburg’s accessibility advisory committee.
The additions are intended to improve accessibility and ensure recreational amenities are more easily accessible to residents and visitors with mobility needs.
