One firefighter suffered a minor injury during firefighting operations
Tillsonburg Fire and Rescue Services responded to a residential structure fire early Monday morning in the area of Broadway Street and Concession Street East.
Crews were called around 6:50 a.m. after reports of smoke and flames coming from the upper level of the building. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control while searching the structure and protecting neighbouring properties.
Crews remained on scene through the morning, extinguishing remaining hot spots. One firefighter suffered a minor injury during firefighting operations and was taken to hospital for further assessment. No civilians were injured.
The fire has been investigated and is not considered suspicious.
Fire officials are reminding residents to have working smoke alarms on every level of their homes and outside all sleeping areas, and to test them monthly.
