Tillsonburg waives $3,100 in fees to support 2026 TurtleFest

Tillsonburg Town Council approved a waiver of municipal event fees worth about $3,100 to support the 15th annual Tillsonburg TurtleFest on June 19th and 20th, with any funding shortfall covered by the town's Tax Rate Stabilization Reserve.

Tillsonburg Town Council has approved financial support for this year’s TurtleFest by waiving municipal operational fees associated with the event, providing relief valued at approximately $3,100.

The funding assistance comes as organizers prepare for the 15th annual TurtleFest, scheduled for June 19th and 20th. Tillsonburg’s largest community event, which attracts thousands of visitors and features live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and more than 140 vendors.

Council approved the fee waiver through its community events funding program. Since the dedicated account held insufficient funds to cover the full amount, the balance will be drawn from the municipality’s Tax Rate Stabilization Reserve.

Participating vendors include local businesses and community organizations, many of which offer hands-on activities and interactive experiences for festivalgoers. A new addition this year will see the Tillsonburg Farmers Market become part of the festivities, further expanding the event’s local flavour.

Admission to TurtleFest remains free, with the majority of programming and activities funded through sponsorship support. Organizers continue to manage a number of essential expenses, including security, medical services, insurance, staging, and event signage.
