Two Tillsonburg residents are facing firearms charges after OPP executed a search warrant at a North Street East home following reports of suspected weapons. One person remains in custody while the other has been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
Oxford County OPP say officers began looking into the situation on April 30th after receiving complaints about suspected weapons at a residence on North Street East. Later that night, at around 10:40 p.m., police executed a search warrant at the home. The operation involved multiple units, including the OPP’s major crime unit, West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, emergency response team, canine unit, explosives disposal unit, and the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad. As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old Tillsonburg man has been charged with several offences, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of a weapon obtained by crime, and careless storage of a firearm. He was held in custody for a bail hearing in Woodstock. A 44-year-old Tillsonburg resident has also been charged with knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm. That individual was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Woodstock on June 2nd, 2026. During the investigation, North Street East was closed between Braun Avenue and Cranberry Road, but has since reopened. Police say the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with information to contact Oxford County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
