One individual was transported to hospital with serious injuries, and remains in critical condition after an assault on Saturday.
The Oxford Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating an incident in Tillsonburg from the weekend.
On Saturday July 11, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Oxford OPP officers, along with fire and emergency medical services, responded to a report of an assault in the area of Prospect Street, where an individual was transported to hospital with serious injuries, and remains in critical condition.
As a result, a 41-year-old Tillsonburg resident was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault as well as Arson, and remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
The arson charge stems from emergency services being called to a structure fire on Prospect Street as well. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
An increased police presence was maintained in the area while Oxford OPP members, assisted by the West Region Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, and Oxford County Crime Unit, continued to investigate.
