During Earth Week, more than 600 volunteers took part in Clean & Green Tillsonburg, cleaning over 30 parks, trails, and community sites and collecting about 783 kilograms of waste. The effort brought together a wide range of local groups and will return in 2027.
The community of Tillsonburg came together in a big way during Earth Week of 2026, turning environmental enthusiasm into action through the Clean & Green initiative.
Across the town, 36 volunteer teams signed up and got to work cleaning parks, trails, and community spaces. By the end of the effort, 31 of 36 designated locations had been fully cleaned, along with several extra sites—including two school yards, two ravines, and the grounds around the Station Arts Centre.
Organizers say the turnout was remarkable, with more than 600 participants taking part. The groups represented a wide cross-section of the community, including local businesses, sports teams, service clubs, schools, church groups, families, neighbours, and friends. One daycare even joined in, bringing along 50 children.
In total, volunteers collected an estimated 783 kilograms of garbage, all of it properly disposed of.
“This really showed how much people in Tillsonburg care about their community spaces,” organizers noted, pointing to the scale of participation and the visible impact across town.
The effort also included a bit of friendly competition. The grand prize draw went to the “Trash Panda Army,” a team associated with The Salvation Army - Tillsonburg Church and Community & Family Services. They’ll be celebrating their win with a Skate/Swim & Pizza Party.
While this year’s cleanup is now wrapped up, organizers say the momentum won’t stop here. Clean & Green Tillsonburg is set to return in 2027, with hopes of building on this year’s strong community response.
