The City of Woodstock is asking residents to vote for an official city bird after being designated a Bird Friendly City by Nature Canada. Voting runs June 3rd to July 2nd, 2026, with three choices: the Eastern Goldfinch, Black-capped Chickadee, and Song Sparrow.

The City of Woodstock is asking residents to help pick an official city bird after recently earning a Bird Friendly City designation from Nature Canada. The recognition highlights communities that are working to protect birds, improve habitats, and raise awareness about conservation.

To keep that momentum going, the Woodstock Environmental Advisory Committee has narrowed things down to three familiar local species: the bright yellow Eastern Goldfinch, the friendly and recognizable Black-capped Chickadee, and the musical Song Sparrow. Each one is common in the area and brings its own personality to backyards, parks, and green spaces.

People will be able to vote online or in person at City Hall from June 3rd to July 2nd, 2026. More details on the birds and how to take part will be posted on Let’s Talk Woodstock and the City’s social media channels in the lead-up to voting.
