Woodstock, Tillsonburg and Ingersoll hospitals getting funding for surgeries

Oxford County hospitals are getting more than $500,000 from the province to help improve access to surgeries and reduce wait times.

The Ontario government announced $500,600 for Woodstock Hospital and Rural Roads Health Services, which operates hospitals in Tillsonburg and Ingersoll.

The funding will support procedures including cardiac, cancer and chronic kidney care, along with surgeries facing some of the longest wait times.

Woodstock Hospital will receive $249,000 for volume-funded programs and $135,800 for globally-funded programs. Rural Roads Health Services will receive $24,100 and $91,500 respectively.

Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman said the funding will help local hospitals provide more procedures while keeping care closer to home.

“Whether it’s cancer treatment, heart surgery or other important procedures, people need to know they can get the care they need, when they need it, close to home,” Hardeman said.

The local funding is part of a $381-million annual investment across Ontario and a four per cent increase in hospital funding.

The province says it is providing more than $1.1 billion in additional hospital funding for 2026-27, including money aimed at increasing the number of procedures performed and reducing wait times for selected hospital programs.
