A 14-year-old Woodstock youth has been charged following an investigation into a bomb threat made against Springbank Public School on April 29th, 2026.

Woodstock Police were called to the school shortly after 11 a.m. after receiving reports of a bomb threat. Officers conducted a thorough search of the building and found no suspicious items. The threat was later determined to be unfounded.

Following an investigation by the Woodstock Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch, the youth was charged with public mischief and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

Police said the threat was a deliberate hoax that prompted a significant response from police, fire and paramedic services, disrupting the school day and causing concern among students, staff, parents and the community.

Investigators worked with law enforcement agencies in the United States after links were identified to separate investigations south of the border. Police said a youth in Woodstock and a youth in Ohio were identified as suspects connected to the Springbank Public School threat and other reported bomb threat and swatting incidents in the U.S.

The investigation involved cooperation with the Fresno Police Department in California, the Youngstown Police Department in Ohio, the Crown Attorney’s Office, the Thames Valley District School Board, and Springbank Public School.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the accused cannot be released.
