Tillsonburg Mayor Deb Gilvesy is running for reelection in October.
Married for more than 41 years with two daughters, Gilvesy tells Oxford Today, that the County is in her blood.
Gilvesy says being on the tobacco board was how she became active politically.
Reflecting on her first term as Mayor of Tillsonburg, Gilvesy says debate in council has been very healthy.
Gilvesy says after consulting with her family she decided to seek a second term as Mayor to see a number of municipal initiatives completed including the Town Hall project.
There's also the fire hall renovation project which remains a work in progress. After two years of record industrial growth in Tillsonburg, Gilvesy says if reelected she wants to keep that going.
On the issue of affordability for residents, Gilvesy says Tillsonburg council must always work with sharp pencils when crafting municipal budgets.
Gilvesy notes a recent County Council report revealed three-in-ten Tillsonburg residents are seniors and 37 percent of those seniors have low income.
When asked why Tillsonburg voters should elect her to a second term, Gilvesy cites her first term track record.
