A 32 year veteran of municipal politics in Tillsonburg - incumbent councillor Dave Beres - is running for re-election in October.
Beres arrived in the region 50 years ago and says Oxford County residents know the family's name and not just because of politics.
Beres heads the region's physician recruitment committee and tells us continuing to work on healthcare accessbility will be a priority for him if re-elected.
Beres also wants to keep the heat on the so called "Big Swing" project which looks at relocating baseball diamonds and selling the ballfields to developers for housing.
Also on Beres' radar is a new arena and indoor track. Beres notes almost 30 percent of Tillsonburg's population is over the age of 65 and need an indoor location to walk for fitness.
Beres says the homelessness portfolio which is a work-in-progress, is also a priority.
Circling back to housing, Beres says the look of Tillsonburg's municipal boundary is also a pressing issue.
Beres is also campaigning for increased representation for Tillsonburg on Oxford County council.
On the matter of taxation, Beres says he wants to see more of the gasoline tax money collected by upper tier governments, spent locally.
While Beres is a proponent of having fresh faces on council, he says there's still plenty of room for an experienced hand and says a vote for him is a vote for continuity.
