All residents safely evacuated after Talbot Street fire in St. Thomas

The building that housed the Lucky Kitchen Restaurant is not deemed safe and will likely be torn down soon.

Emergency crews were called to an active fire in the 500 block of Talbot Street in St. Thomas early Thursday morning.

Just before 7 a.m., St. Thomas Police, St. Thomas Fire Department, and EMS responded to the scene at Lucky Kitchen Restaurant, where multiple city services remain actively involved.

As a result of the fire, Talbot Street is closed in both directions, along with several surrounding streets, including Mondamin Street, Hiawatha Street, Curtis Street, and St. Catharine Street.

 Chief Fire Prevention Officer Kim Destun provided an update on the situation.

Destun continued, noting all apartment residents made it out safely.

The building is not deemed safe and will likely be torn down in the near future.
