Fanshawe College ranked among Canada’s Top 50 research colleges for 2025

The recognition reflects several years of growth in applied research and industry partnerships.

Fanshawe College has been named one of Canada’s Top 50 Research Colleges for 2025, according to new rankings released by Re$earch Infosource Inc.

The recognition reflects several years of growth in applied research and industry partnerships. Fanshawe has expanded its research capacity with support from major funding programs, helping launch the Packaging Advancement Centre and grow its Centre for Research and Innovation. These investments have increased the number of research projects, industry collaborations, and hands-on opportunities for students.

“Inclusion on this list is a testament to the dedication of our research team and the strength of our partnerships,” said Alison Ewart, dean of Research and Innovation at Fanshawe. She noted that new infrastructure and expertise have helped the college support more companies and involve more students in applied research.

Recent projects include improving a plant-based sweetener for a Toronto biotech startup, extending the shelf-life of natural health products, testing UVC exposure on windows, and designing new equipment to improve safety for a local honey producer.

The ranking highlights Fanshawe’s continued commitment to innovation, collaboration, and real-world learning.
