For thousands of families across Southwestern Ontario, the Children's Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre is more than a hospital — it's a place where children receive specialized care during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

Jennifer Baxter, Director of Community Relations and Events with Children’s Health Foundation, says they serve more than 66,000 children and families annually, providing care for patients from birth through age 18. Their reach extends across Southwestern Ontario and into parts of Northern Ontario, serving a population of more than 2.3 million people, including approximately 400,000 children.
The hospital offers expertise in more than 30 medical specialties and subspecialties, providing treatment for everything from serious injuries and childhood cancer to complex medical conditions requiring intensive care.
Its paediatric emergency department also plays a critical role in the region, handling tens of thousands of visits each year. For families facing a medical emergency, access to specialized paediatric staff and resources can be essential.
The hospital is also a major centre for adolescent care, with approximately 25,000 young people between the ages of 10 and 18 receiving care annually. Its services include child and adolescent mental health care, alongside a wide range of medical and surgical programs.
Beyond treating patients, the hospital supports medical education and research aimed at improving treatments and outcomes for children.
Community support also plays an important role. According to the Children's Health Foundation, nearly all equipment at Children's Hospital is funded through donations, helping provide the tools and technology healthcare teams need to care for young patients.
For families across the region, the hospital's work represents more than numbers and statistics. It means access to specialized expertise, support during difficult times and hope for children facing serious health challenges.
