The investigation began after a series of emails were received over several months.
A London man is facing charges following a police investigation into threatening emails sent to London City Hall.
London Police say the investigation began after a series of emails were received over several months. Between June 26 and 27, 2025, a suspect first contacted City Hall with inquiries. Later, between December 9 and 10, police say the emails escalated and included threats of death.
Additional threatening emails were sent between December 13 and 14, prompting further concern. London Police were contacted and launched an investigation, which was later reassigned to the LPS Cyber Crime Unit with support from the Patrol Operations Investigative Section.
Police identified a suspect and arrested a man on Monday afternoon. There were no reported injuries, and police say there was no immediate risk to public safety.
As a result of the investigation, 47-year-old Wayne Hartman of London has been charged with one count of uttering threats of death or bodily harm.
Hartman was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in London court on January 27, 2026.
